Rummage sale….
The sale is a nightmare, but worst is seeing a parent that can no longer take care of himself and you have to make him give up everything that is familiar to him.
My friend had to make this choice in this past month. Once her father was moved to his new home. The home that all his memories were but no longer can remember had to be exposed to strangers.
It was sad, it was relief and yet there was a lingering regret.
Aging is but a path we all have to face. Some are lucky to the end, we remember our stages, some not so.
Today I said good bye to a home I’ve visited and shared laughter and pain. My friend is devastated but relieved. We too are on our path.
Heartbreaking despite the relief. We spend so much of our lives accumulating, not just things, but memories captured in places and faces and things. It’s hard to let them go. 🙂

Sadness is a life of age
when all seems lost of memories
Yet a smile to the lonely
Can bring as much as a memory gone bye
As always Sheldon
